The New York State Nurse NYSNLA and the regional associations relationship is based upon communication and support. NYSNLA provides overall strategic direction for the Association, coordinates state and regional leadership initiatives, develops statewide communications programs that link the regions and members and delivers valuable and timely information, manages the CNLP program and develops other professional development programs delivered centrally or through the regional structure, maintains an aggressive advocacy program, and hosts at least one annual statewide event to create a sense of unity and purpose within the Association. Most importantly, NYSNLA is an important source of support for the regions, assisting with program development, membership initiatives, and helps to bring all regional operations to a uniformly high level of member value. The regions are independent to define their own programs and services including grassroots membership development, networking through e-mail and local events, educational programs and training, peer support and local advocacy on local legislative issues.
